Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party

Tuesday, October 28, 2003

BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.

The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:

Present:

• John Francis of Ohio, Chairman
• Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
• John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary
• Maureen McHugh of Illinois, Treasurer
• Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
• Dan Charles of Colorado, Rules Committee Chairman
• Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman

Absent:

• Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
• Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman

A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman.

The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.

Mr. Charles described the basic agenda which the Committee has usually followed.

Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the agenda. His motion was seconded by Mr. White, and adopted by unanimous vote.

The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes of the October 21, 2003 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. McHugh and adopted by unanimous vote, Mr. Charles, Mr. White, and Mrs. Winters abstaining.

The Treasurer delivered a brief report. All the bills from the in-person meeting have been paid, and the only bills outstanding are to the Secretary.

The Public Relations report was given. Mrs. Winters stated that we should begin work on another quarterly newsletter. A press release regarding the new officer elections was discussed. The Chairman stressed his interest in building a talk radio program list, so that he could make appearances and promote the party.

The Finance Committee had no report at this time.

The Party Building Committee discussion was held. Various questions were asked about the technical aspects of Partybuilding. A discussion was held regarding how to handle telephone calls to the party's toll-free line.

The Rules Committee chairman reported his first priority is development of the "Code of Conduct" for the National Committee. The new Constitutional amendments have created several other areas in which the Rules Committee will be active.

There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. White, seconded by Mr. Charles, and adopted by unanimous vote, the Chairman declared the meeting adjourned.
