Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, December 2, 2003
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
- John Francis of Ohio, Chairman
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary
- Maureen McHugh of Illinois, Treasurer
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Dan Charles of Colorado, Rules Committee Chairman
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
- Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman, joined the meeting after the roll call had been taken.
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman.
Mr. Hey delivered the invocation. The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Chairman delivered a short report. A gun show in Columbus this weekend should provide some positive leads. Several vendors agreed to pass out party literature at their tables.
The Vice-Chairman described a media contact about the state party in Massachusetts. The mailing equipment is set to ship tomorrow.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes of the November 25, 2003 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. Winters and adopted by unanimous vote, Mr. White and Mr. Charles abstaining.
The Secretary described his activities for the week, including getting the stationery printed and awaiting final word on the form and letters to be printed. In addition, the Party Building database and web site have been updated. Final drafts of the letters to go out for the membership and fundraising drive have been submitted for a vote by email.
The Treasurer reported a bank balance of approximately $1,900. There are sufficient funds available to pay for the membership and fundraising mailing.
Mr. White delivered the Party Building report. He reported working mostly on contacts from Hawaii, New Jersey, and Oklahoma.
Jon Hill stated that the Finance Committee is working to finalize the form for the membership / fundraiser mailing.
Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee is planning to meet next Thursday, and expects to prepare resolutions for consideration by the National Committee.
Mrs. Winters reported working on a response to several requests from doctoral students for information about the Party.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mrs. McHugh, seconded by Mr. White, and adopted by unanimous vote, the Chairman declared the meeting adjourned.
