Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party

Tuesday, March 16, 2004

BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.

The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.

The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:

Present:

  • Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
  • John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
  • Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
  • Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
  • Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman

Absent:

  • Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
  • Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman

A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman.

The Chairman recommended the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mrs. Winters moved its adoption, Mr. White seconded the motion, and the Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.

The Chairman delivered his report. He updated the members on the status of a potential candidate for Congress. In addition, he reported progress in bringing up a state party in one of the larger states. He has had numerous discussions with various immigration groups, especially focused in California.

The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes of the March 9, 2004 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. Winters and adopted by unanimous vote.

The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is around $1,900, but there is still an outstanding postage invoice due of around $750. The changes in credit card depository seem to be taking effect.

Mr. Golmon reminded the members that he has submitted a ballot access research report to the Operating Committee. In addition, he has been working on party building activities to help build a volunteer base for future ballot access activities.

The Finance Committee will begin work at this Thursday's meeting on a major fundraising plan.

Mr. White reported steady activity contacting prospects in California during the past week.

Mrs. Winters reported that the Public Relations Committee is almost finished with the Generic Newsletter, and has begun work on new bumper stickers and the next quarterly newsletter.

The Rules Committee will meet next week to continue its work.

A discussion was held regarding Senator Lugar's proposal to turn over control of the seas to the United Nations. The issue of mass indoctrination, including our children, into the New World Order group-think was brought out. One strategy for overcoming these odds involves electing a few members to Congress at first, at which point the party will be able to exercise swing votes at the tipping point on many political issues.

There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. Hey, seconded by Mr. White, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
