Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party

Tuesday, May 11, 2004

BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.

The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Golmon delivered the invocation.

The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:

Present:

  • Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
  • John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
  • Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
  • Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
  • Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman

Absent:

  • Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
  • Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman

A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman.

Mrs. Winters moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. White seconded the motion, and the Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.

The Chairman delivered a brief report. He continues to work on the FAQ to answer common questions that the Party receives on a regular basis.

The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes of the April 27, 2004 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. Winters and adopted by unanimous vote, Mr. Golmon abstaining.

The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes of the April 29, 2004 vote of the Operating Committee by electronic mail. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as corrected. His motion was seconded by Mr. White and adopted by unanimous vote,

The Secretary reported that another 2200 newsletters have been prepared for mailing. An additional 2200 are in the process of preparation, with another 6200 yet to be prepared and mailed.

The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $550.57. There are no outstanding invoices left to be paid at this time, but there are various credit card fees yet to be captured which will adjust the balance down by no more than $100.

The transfer of the credit card processing depository to the new bank account has finally been completed, and the Wells Fargo account has therefore been closed.

Mr. Golmon, Ballot Access Committee chairman, delivered a report on ballot access requirements in Oklahoma. There is still time to get candidates on the ballot under the party name in that state. A discussion was held regarding the logistics involved in that effort.

Mr. White reported that he has submitted the necessary signatures to appear on the ballot for State Representative in his district in Massachusetts. He stated that he would be calling a Party Building Committee meeting shortly.

Mrs. Winters reported that the Public Relations Committee is working on several press releases and the next Quarterly newsletter.

Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee will be meeting this Saturday.

There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. White, seconded by Mr. Hey, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
