Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, August 10, 2004
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Vice Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
- Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Vice Chairman at 9:17 p.m.
Mr. White moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mrs. Winters seconded the motion, and the Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes of the July 27, 2004 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous vote, with Mr. White abstaining.
The Secretary reported his activities in closing out the month end, including sending all "thank you" letters, reminder letters, etc. In addition, another 570 newsletters were mailed to contacts.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $1843.65. There are no outstanding invoices due at this time.
Mr. Hill reported that he has been working on web code for processing credit cards and other tasks. The Finance Committee is awaiting a reworked proposal from Mr. Charles in order to go forward with the fundraising proposal.
Mrs. Winters reported that the Public Relations Committee will meet next Monday to work on the Newsletter and the revision of the tri-fold brochure. The money has been already been authorized to reprint the brochures. In addition, she will be serving as a questioner at a political debate in New Hampshire later this week.
Mr. White reported that he has made good contacts out west and in Kansas.
An issue was discussed regarding store order fulfillment. Several questions related to party building were also discussed.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mrs. Winters, seconded by Mr. White, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 9:46 p.m.
