Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, April 12, 2005
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
- Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
- Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:12 p.m.
Mr. White moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mrs. Winters seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has continued to focus on standing committee tasks. There are three press releases currently in process for later this week.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the April 5, 2005 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Hill, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reported that he has made good progress on the web technology upgrade for the party's web site. The invitation letters for the Party Building conference calls were sent out last Thursday.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $1000.94. There are no unpaid obligations. The March FEC report has been submitted to the FEC today.
Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee will be meeting Thursday evening to discuss the latest draft of the fund raising plan.
Mr. White reported that the Party Building Committee had a profitable meeting Monday evening.
Mrs. Winters reported that the Public Relations Committee will be meeting Thursday evening to finalize the newsletter.
Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee continues to take a break from its activities.
Mr. Hill mentioned that the new trade deficit figures were worse this month than expected. Mr. Charles stated that a press release is in the works concerning this matter.
Mr. White reported on his appearance at the Massachusetts legislature to testify regarding the gay marriage issue.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 9:38 p.m.
