Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, June 28, 2005
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
- Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
- Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:47 p.m.
Mr. White moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mrs. Winters seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. A press release went out earlier today on the eminent domain decision, and the response so far has been almost all positive. Another release is in the works on the President's speech. He has also been speaking with various National Committee members by telephone. He described discussions with a coalition trying to get a good energy bill through Congress.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the June 21, 2005 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $2586.30. There are no unpaid obligations.
Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee is on hiatus.
Mr. White reported making contact with an organizer in Arizona. He announced that Peter Browning has joined the Party Building Committee.
Mrs. Winters reported that the Summer newsletter will be approved by email vote later this week. The finalizing and reprinting of the generic newsletter will be handled immediately thereafter.
Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee will be meeting shortly to continue its work.
A discussion was held regarding participation in committee work and new members who have or will join committees.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. White, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned at 10:39 p.m.
