Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, July 12, 2005
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. White delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:19 p.m.
Mr. Hill moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. White seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has been dealing with contacts, and investigating problems with the party's email distribution.
The Chairman turned over the gavel to Mr. Hill and left the meeting for a short time.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the July 5, 2005 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The summer issue of the newsletter was taken to the printer today. The software that manages the web based petitions has been reworked using up-to-date technology. The Petition relating to the Supreme Court vacancy was formatted and posted, and signatures are being processed.
A discussion was held regarding various technical internet problems that the Chairman and Secretary are addressing.
Mr. Hill returned the gavel to the Chairman.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $2599.05. There are no unpaid obligations. The July FEC report has been filed and may be viewed on the FEC web site.
Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee is working on the fund raising letter draft which will be mailed following the mailing of the summer issue of the newsletter. The Committee is also working on the donor prospect list for these mailings.
Mr. White reported that the Party Building Committee will be meeting later this month.
Mrs. Winters reported good progress in finalizing the re-print of the generic newsletter. A committee meeting is scheduled for this Saturday.
Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee will be meeting shortly to continue its work.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. Hey, seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned at 10:14 p.m.
