Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, September 13, 2005
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
- Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:20 p.m.
Mrs. Winters moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. White seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has been working on projects for various standing committees, as well as several press releases. The notices for the Michigan organizing meeting are being prepared for mailing by Thursday. The Fund Raising Program is proceeding, more than fulfilling expectations. The telephone calling phase of Stage 1 will begin this weekend.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the September 6, 2005 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary is preparing to send out several hundred notices for the Michigan and Arizona membership meetings later this week.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $4462.31. This balance is split between the new fundraising fund ($3394.01) and the general fund ($1068.30). There are no unpaid obligations.
The FEC report for September has been submitted and may be viewed on the FEC web site.
Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee has almost completed work to begin the calling phase of the fund raising plan, which should be in place by the week-end.
Mr. White reported that the Party Building Committee met and called the Michigan organizing committee founding meeting. He has been working the calls that come in on the toll-free line.
A discussion took place regarding various party building issues.
Mrs. Winters reported that the Public Relations Committee meeting will continue this Saturday for work on the newsletters.
Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee is still on hiatus.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mrs. Winters, seconded by Mr. White, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 10:04 p.m.
