Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, July 3, 2006
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, July 3, 2006 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Schweingrouber delivered the invocation.
The Chairman called the roll of Operating Committee members:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- Mike Eller of Michigan, Finance Committee Chairman
- Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- JC Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Peter Browning of Florida, Party Building Committee
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
John Hey of Mississippi, the National Secretary, joined the meeting after the roll had been taken.
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:07 p.m.
Mr. Eller moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. White seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.
The Chairman delivered his report. Two press releases have been issued, and another is in the works. He is also working on projects with several of the standing committees.
A discussion was held regarding a possible press release for July 4 on the new proposed North American Union that is being pushed by the President and his globalist allies.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the June 26, 2006 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Eller, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reported that the 2006 candidates page has been put up on the web site.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $775.83. There are no outstanding invoices at this time. The July FEC report has been circulated for review.
Mr. Fleharty delivered a Ballot Access Committee report. The Committee met and has begun collecting general ballot access information for six states. The Committee will be meeting next at the end of July.
Mr. Eller delivered a Finance Committee report. The Committee has made some preliminary determinations and needs to present them to the National Committee at its next meeting.
Mr. Browning delivered a Party Building Committee report. He reported that due to an influx of new members, there are now five states poised to begin organizing committees. He is preparing to call a meeting of his committee shortly.
Mr. Schweingrouber delivered a Public Relations Committee report. The Committee met last week twice and is continuing to finalize the content of the next newsletter, which should be ready next week. The Committee is also discussing possible changes in the newsletter format. A discussion was held regarding the need to include fund-raising inserts in whatever format is decided upon.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee does not have any issues outstanding at this time.
Mr. Hill led a discussion regarding possible business for the next National Committee meeting.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. White, seconded by Mr. Fleharty, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 10:36 p.m.
