Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party

Monday, December 11, 2006

BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, December 11, 2006 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.

The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.

The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:


  • Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
  • John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
  • J. C. Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
  • Peter Browning of Florida, Party Building Committee Chairman
  • Mike Eller of Michigan, Finance Committee Chairman
  • Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
  • Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
  • Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman


  • Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman

A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:12 p.m.

Mr. White moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. McClellan seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.

The Chairman delivered his report. He attended a local rally regarding various state constitutional amendments. He was able to make some good contacts there. He has also been working on a press release.

The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the December 4, 2006 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Schweingrouber. Mr. Hill proposed an amendment, which was seconded by Mr. Hey, and adopted by unanimous consent. The minutes, as amended, were adopted by unanimous vote, Mr. White abstaining.

All the monthly mailings and beginning of the month routine activities of the Secretary have been carried out. Mr. Hill reported that a case of autographed copies of Buchanan's latest book is on order.

The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $4,600.86. There are no outstanding invoices due at this time.

Mr. Fleharty delivered the Ballot Access Committee report. The finishing touches are being put onto the information that has been compiled for the first 14 states.

Mr. White delivered the Candidates Committee report. A discussion of some possible candidates took place.

Mr. Eller delivered the Finance Committee report. The coffee mugs have been ordered and should arrive next week. The committee will be meeting to set the premium amount for the mugs.

Mr. Browning delivered the Party Building Committee report. A discussion was held regarding access to the party building database and some potential volunteers for the committee.

Mr. Schweingrouber delivered a Public Relations Committee report. The members will be meeting next week to work on the winter newsletter. In addition, he is working on an article about the proposed "North American Union" and its severe negative impact on our nation's sovereignty.

Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee is setting up interviews with two new National Committee designees.

An extensive discussion was held regarding third party political opportunities.

There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. White, seconded by Mr. Fleharty, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned.
