Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, March 17, 2008
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- J. C. Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:21 p.m.
Mr. White moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Schweingrouber seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has been doing some video work. A press release was sent out, and a notice reminding members to order their bulk copies of the next newspaper. He reminded the members of the National Committee meeting tomorrow evening. He reported that there was a brief mention of the party in the American Spectator magazine.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the March 3, 2008 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Schweingrouber. The minutes were adopted by unanimous consent.
Copies of the Agenda and all resolutions were mailed to the members of the National Committee in anticipation of tomorrow's meeting.
A discussion took place regarding filling vacancies in the chairs of the standing committees.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $ 11813.56. There are no unpaid invoices at this time.
Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee has prepared and forwarded to the National Committee the required resolution for the upcoming newspaper and fundraising followup.
Mr. Schweingrouber reported that the Public Relations Committee has approved the newspaper. He discussed his resignation as chairman of the committee due to his moving from Ohio to Virginia.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee is back on hiatus after finishing all pending work before it.
There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. White, seconded by Mr. Schweingrouber, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 9:58 p.m.
