Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party

Monday, July 28, 2008

BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.

The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Lynch delivered the invocation.

The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:

  • Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
  • John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
  • Michael Lynch of New York, Public Relations Committee Chairman
  • Peter Browning of Florida, Partybuilding Committee Chairman

  • Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
  • Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman

Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman, joined the meeting after the roll call had been taken.

A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:10 p.m.

Mr. Lynch moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Browning seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.

The Chairman delivered his report. He commented on the Fannie Mae bail-out that the President is about to sign into law, and how it takes the country into deeper debt and greater socialism. He discussed the endorsement of a candidate for president, and the various ballot access challenges some of the potential endorsees face.

The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the July 14, 2008 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Browning. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote, Mr. White abstaining.

The Secretary stated that he has circulated a candidate for final version of the newspaper. The Public Relations Committee needs to approve this as soon as possible for the Friday publication date.

Mr. Hey reported that the petition on the North American Union is up on the website, with a graphic on the home page to direct visitors to it. In addition, he reported that a new link to order a free copy of the latest newspaper has been added to the home page.

The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $ 11,952.01. There are no unpaid invoices at this time.

Mr. Browning delivered the Partybuilding Committee report. He mentioned several contacts coming in, and new memberships.

Mr. Lynch reported the PR Committee is about to vote to approve the final version of the newspaper and release it for printing later this week.

Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee needs to interview two new candidates for National Committee membership.

There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. Hey, seconded by Mr. Lynch, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 10:08 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

John Pittman Hey
