Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, August 11, 2008
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, August 11, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation. Mr. White urged the members to pray for the citizens of Georgia and that peace would be restored to that region.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- Michael Lynch of New York, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Peter Browning of Florida, Partybuilding Committee Chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:18 p.m.
Mr. White moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Lynch seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has produced several press releases since the last meeting.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the July 28, 2008 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Browning. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote, Mr. White abstaining.
The Secretary reported that the newspaper has been printed and the mailing is underway.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $ 11,449.24. There are no unpaid invoices at this time, but several will be coming due with the mailing of the newspaper.
Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee will be working on the fundraising letter soon.
Mr. Browning delivered the Partybuilding Committee report.
Mr. Lynch reported the PR Committee has some articles ready for the next issue of the newspaper, and that will be the next work taken up.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee needs to interview two new candidates for National Committee membership. The Platform Committee will also need to interview these two candidates as well.
A time of general discussion took place.
There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. White, seconded by Mr. Lynch, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 9:57 p.m.
