AFP to GOP: You're Not Pro-Life
Boulder, CO -- On this memorial to thirty-two years since Roe -v- Wade, the America First Party issues the following statements:
National Chairman Dan Charles said, "All Americans of good heart are saddened today, as we are reminded that we have seen a generation lost. Nearly fifty million of America's children have been robbed of their right to life, and we have all been robbed of their presence. Judicial fiat and a culture of death have laid waste to our nation's soul, and killed more Americans every day than Al Qaeda has over the past decade. We must restore a culture of life. The American holocaust must end."
Mr. Charles continued, "The GOP has controlled Congress for more than a decade. Republicans have appointed 7 of the 9 sitting Supreme Court Justices. So-called "pro-life" President George Bush is starting his second term. Yet, the killing continues. Republicans play politics with innocent lives at election time, while working to maintain the status quo the rest of the time."
National Secretary John Pittman Hey added, "While Congress cowers, pro-life advocates continue to hope that President Bush will protect our nation's most helpless. Their hope is in vain, their trust misplaced. Instead, he nominates to the cabinet and the courts men who are the architects of a policy to promote the criminal prosecution of peaceful pro-life protesters. He uses taxpayer funds to aid Planned Parenthood and other purveyors of death. He brags about a ten-fold increase in research only Josef Mengele could love--embryonic stem cell research--while failing to promote adult stem cell research, the only kind of stem cell research that results in cures instead of cancer."
National Press Secretary Romelle Winters said, "The America First Party and its membership is firmly committed to restoring equal protection of the right to life for all, born and unborn. We agree with our nation's founders that the right to life is a fundamental right granted by our Creator, and as such it cannot be superseded by the laws of man."
Mrs. Winters added, "Our Party recognizes that life begins at conception, and the right to life continues until natural death. We call on all medical practitioners to remain true to their oath and protect that right. We support the overturning of Roe v. Wade and seek the passage and vigorous enforcement of legislation which protects the right to life, regardless of age or state of gestation."
Mr. Charles concluded, "It is time for Pro-Life Americans to reach the obvious conclusion: while many in the GOP are Pro-Life, President Bush is not. He and the GOP may talk the talk, but they are too cowardly to walk the walk."
