GOP Judges Embrace Socialism, Fascism -- Steal Homes

Boulder, CO - In response to the outrageous decision by the US Supreme Court in the case of Kelo v. New London, National Chairman Dan Charles issued the following statement:

"The old saying, 'A man's home is his castle,' is no longer true in America. Thanks to this decision, all private property is now subject to seizure for the socialist purpose of increasing taxes or the fascist purpose of rewarding preferred groups. The America First Party condemns this decision in the strongest possible terms.

"Our Nation's Founders carefully limited the power of government to take private property for 'public use'. That phrase was clearly understood for more than 200 years; i.e.: roads, firehouses, public buildings, and the like. In true Orwellian fashion, five Supreme Court Justices have redefined 'public use' to render it meaningless. They have amended the Constitution without the consent of 2/3rds of Congress and 3/4ths of the States. A majority of those five Justices are Republican appointees.

"Essentially, 'public use' has been redefined to mean 'any political purpose'. Your home can now be taken and given to a corporation to satisfy government lust for tax revenue. Your family business can be seized and given to another person or company if the government thinks they might provide greater economic growth. The decision is so far reaching, one can imagine it being used to satisfy a politician's desire to reward campaign donors, to punish enemies, or meet ephemeral goals such as ensuring a 'fair' distribution of small business or home ownership.

"Since its founding three years ago, the America First Party has stood strongly behind property rights and the plain language of the Constitution. Our Principles clearly state that we seek to 'Restore property rights and restrict government land confiscation' as part of our goal to 'Ensure equality before the law in protecting those rights granted by the Creator.' Our Platform clearly supports this principle. Our candidates have run for office and been elected to public office on this principle. Our Nation's Founders fought a war of independence for this principle.

"The America First Party strongly opposes all taxes on property for any purpose. There is no greater tax than to take someone's home merely to re-distribute its value to another. The injustice of this decision should strike fear into the heart of every American and chill us all to the bone. The result of every citizen's life's work is no longer safe.

"Americans should now know that they cannot rely on the Supreme Court to defend their rights, even though the GOP has appointed 7 of the 9 Justices. The America First Party calls upon state legislatures and Congress to swiftly enact legislation that would restore the phrase 'public use' to its original meaning, to protect private property rights, and to limit the jurisdiction of courts as permitted under the Constitution. Given the lusts of many of the professional thieves in both the Democrat and Republican parties that now occupy those offices, we are not optimistic."
