Five Years after 9-11, Congress is More Serious About Horse Security than National Security
Boulder, CO - On this anniversary of 9-11, the America First Party decries
the continued resistance of our elected officials to the most basic and
obvious step to securing our nation from future terrorist attacks -- the
securing of our borders. Instead, the House has incredibly diverted its
time to assaulting the property rights of horse owners. H.R. 503, the bill
which the House passed, and which the Senate has put on its calendar, would
prohibit horse slaughter. It is probably calculated to generate support for
incumbents as the election nears.
Press Secretary JC Schweingrouber stated: "With about 100,000 illegals from
nations with reputed links to terrorism in this country, and the potential
for so many more to easily cross the border, the nation cannot afford
unnecessary delays in connection with border security. Those who favor
political grandstanding to defending the country from invasion, are not fit
for leadership, and are inviting a political backlash in November."
National Secretary John Pittman Hey stated: "When it comes to protecting
America, Congress needs to stop horsing around. The President and Congress
have a constitutional duty to defend the country from invasion -- an
accurate description of the present flow of millions across our southern
border. If Congress continues to neglect its basic duty, then the voters
should not hesitate to remove them. Further, there is no doubt the
President's neglect of border security is an impeachable offense."
The America First Party was founded in April 2002 and is focused on electing principled citizen statesmen who will preserve and protect our people and our sovereignty, promote economic growth and independence, encourage the traditional values of faith, family, and responsibility, ensure equality before the law in protecting those rights granted by the Creator, and clean up our corrupted political system. In 2004, the AFP elected two-thirds of its candidates to public office.
