Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, September 10, 2007
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, September 10, 2007 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Spitzig delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- J. C. Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:22 p.m.
Mr. Schweingrouber moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Spitzig seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.
The Chairman delivered his report. The Party Building Committee is going to interview prospects for Organizer in Oregon tomorrow evening. Mr. Hill is following several stories with an eye toward issuing new press releases. He has been working with several state organizers to ramp up building new parties in those states.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the August 27, 2007 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Spitzig. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reported that the first 2000 copies of the newspaper were mailed today, as well as a new batch of activist letters and pamphlets.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $ 5,914.27. There are several invoices relating to the newspaper mailing which will be coming due in the next week.
Mr. Hill reported that the Partybuilding Committee will be meeting Tuesday evening to discuss organizing committee business and interview potential organizers for Oregon.
Mr. Schweingrouber delivered the Public Relations Committee report. The newspaper has been mailed. The committee will meet this Saturday to work on the next issue. Some ideas for articles were discussed.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee has met and reported out several resolutions for the National Committee's consideration.
A time of discussion took place.
There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. Schweingrouber, seconded by Mr. Spitzig, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned at 10:01 p.m.
